Athletic Trainer Service and Partnership
Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state licensure statutes. The National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Code of Ethics states the principles of ethical behavior that should be followed in the practice of athletic training.

Courtney Nunez joins the LA FIRE SC Staff as the Athletic Trainer Lead for Club Sports. She received her bachelor’s degree of Science in Athletic Training from Nicholls State University in 2013. She went on Northwestern State University to earn her master’s degree in Health Promotion as a graduate assistant athletic trainer in 2015. There she provided care to the Men and Women’s Track and Field Teams and the Men and Women’s Cross-Country teams. Courtney is state licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and nationally certified by the Board of Certification.
In 2015, she joined Ochsner Sports Medicine Andrew’s Institute Athletic Training Outreach Program. Courtney has been with Ochsner for 7 years providing athletic training services to local student athletes across the New Orleans Area. She is currently the Athletic Training Coordinator for the Southshore Region.
